Name the Mary E Tender, Incl. Private Party in the Boatshop

Make your mark on history! An exceptionally unique opportunity to name the tender for the historic 1906 schooner Mary E, flagship of Maine Maritime Museum and ambassador for the City of Ships. 

In addition to choosing the name, the winning bidder will work with Director of Watercraft and Traditional Skills Kurt Spiridakis to choose the tender's paint colors and has the opportunity to host a private party for up to eight in the museum's Boatshop--complete with beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres--to paint her.

Maine Maritime Museum reserves the right to refuse inappropriate names and color choices for the tender. Tender is scheduled to be ready in the late fall or mid-winter.

"Mary E from the Stern" Painting by Robert Beck
"Mary E from the Stern" painting by Robert Beck commemorates the restoration of the Bath-built 1906 schooner at Maine Maritime Museum during the summer of 2017.

Original, 25.5" x 24", oil on panel.

Robert Beck (1950-) is an American painter known for his plein air and studio images of the people, occupations, and events of our time. Beck approaches a wide range of subjects in his work, often painting live under distracting and difficult circumstances. He addresses some larger topics through multiple-painting "essays", in which each image describes a facet of the subject. Beck is also a writer, teacher, curator and lecturer; he writes a monthly column for ICON magazine that parallels his painting, and is the past host of a weekly radio interview show on WDVR-FM. In 2014, he was awarded the Philadelphia Sketch Club Medal for Excellence and Contribution to the Arts.

His work was featured in the 2016-2017 Maine Maritime Museum exhibit OVER EAST, an Artist's Journal: Paintings by Robert Beck of the Contemporary Maritime Community.

A Mary E Weekend at Boothbay Harbor's Spruce Point Inn

Spend an unforgettable weekend with Mary E and Boothbay Harbor's famous Spruce Point Inn.

On Friday, September 7, up to four couples will board the historic 1906 schooner Mary E at Maine Maritime Museum and take a beautiful sail to Boothbay Harbor's Spruce Point Inn, where they'll enjoy lodging at the beautiful 57-acre resort for two nights. On Saturday, the group will embark on a day sail aboard the Mary E, and upon returning they'll savor cocktails and dinner in one of the resort's private dining rooms. On Sunday, September 9, the group will cruise back to the museum aboard Mary E.

Includes four rooms for two nights and one night's complimentary cocktail reception and dinner at Spruce Point Inn, and eight passes to the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
